Our goal is simple: every date, rule and fact on this site should be correct, clear and useful. This policy explains how the Half Birthday Calculator Team researches, writes, checks and updates the calculator and guides.
Who creates our content
All guides are written and maintained by the Half Birthday Calculator Team. We cover one topic area, half birthdays and the date maths behind them, so that we can cover it carefully rather than broadly. You can read more about us on our About page.
How we research
- Dates and rules are checked against the calendar itself and against our own published calculation method. Every date example in a guide is checked in the calculator before publishing.
- Health and child-development topics, such as what babies typically do at six months, follow official public health guidance, which we link to in the article. We do not give medical advice, and these articles say so.
- Ideas and practical tips, such as party, gift and cake ideas, are written to be realistic, affordable and safe, with safety notes where they matter (for example, food for babies).
We prefer primary and official sources. We do not copy content from other websites.
How we write
- Answer first. Each guide starts with a short, direct answer, then adds detail, examples and tables.
- Plain language. We avoid jargon and explain any term we have to use.
- No filler. If a page does not help a reader do or understand something, we do not publish it.
- One page per question. We avoid publishing several pages that answer the same question.
Use of AI tools
We may use writing and research tools, including AI tools, to help draft, translate or edit content. A tool never has the final say: every page is checked by our team against our sources and the calculator before it is published, and the team is responsible for everything on the site.
Translations
The calculator is available in German, Spanish, French, Russian and Portuguese. Translations are checked so that dates, month names and examples are correct in each language. Our guides are currently published in English only.
Updates and corrections
- Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
- We review guides when guidance changes, when readers ask questions we have not answered, or when we find a mistake.
- If we find or are told about an error, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted on the page.
To report a mistake, please contact us with the page address and what looks wrong.
Independence and advertising
The site may show ads to cover its costs. Advertisers have no say in what we write, which topics we cover or what we recommend. We do not publish sponsored articles or paid reviews, and we do not accept payment for links. If that ever changes for a page, the page will say so clearly.
Comments
Where comments are open, they are moderated and filtered for spam. We remove comments that are abusive, off-topic, promotional or that share personal information. Comments close automatically after 30 days.
